Neuro-Relational Peer Training

This one-of-a-kind training program was built to equip Lead Peers with the capacities needed to carry out SST’s mission: to shatter the stigma of the impacts of traumatic stress within First Responder Communities by fostering hope and healing through clinically informed, relationally attuned, peer led support. The training occurred in 6-hour increments over 5 months. Content was created and led by Gina Essex at the Center for Resiliency & Wellbeing.

Modules included topics like:

  • Basic Neuro Anatomy: Effects of Trauma & Resilience

  • Autonomic Nervous System: Components & Functions

  • Connections in Relationships: Rupture & Repair

and more.

A group of 13 SST representatives, Lead Peers, now have the tools they need make an impact in your community. They’ll be the hands and feet of SST by attending outreach events, peer support groups, and department presentations.

I have attended a couple events as a volunteer Peer prior to completing the Neuro-Relationship Peer Training that SST Sponsored. After the training I was much more confident and was able to provide crucial insight to those I worked with. This was an exceptional training!
